Zimbabwe Bans Foreign Currency

Zimbabwe Bans Foreign Currency

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe has made the Zimbabwean dollar the sole currency for legal tender purposes.

Alongside the Zimbabwean Dollar, effective 24th June 2019, the US Dollar (USD), British Pound (GBP), South African Rand (ZAR), Botswana Pula (BWP) and any other foreign currency whatsoever shall no longer be a legal tender in any transactions in Zimbabwe.

This ends the multiple currency regime that Zimbabwe has been using.

Wild & Isle will keep readers informed of the situation.
